Big Bertha came into our rescue program originally on June 20, 2018, but sadly returned to our program on August 15, 2021. Big Bertha came into our rescue program from the Beckham County Sheriff's Office as a cruelty case along with 12 other horses. Sadly, one died before we were able to get there. Big Bertha is a Beautiful, Bay, BLM Branded Mustang, Mare. Big Bertha is estimated to be 4 years of age. Big Bertha is in good body condition with a body score of a 6. Big Bertha's feet were in horrible condition and lacked serious farrier care. Big Bertha is a sweet girl but very scared and lacks confidence. We are working on her being Halter broke and broke to lead. This case is still pending, and we are waiting for an update from Beckham County. We are praying for a resolution regarding these sweet horses soon. Once we receive word, we will update adoption status. Big Bertha's has a long road of recovery ahead of her. Big Bertha was picked for our 8th Annual Blaze's Ride to the Rescue Trainer Challenge. She was chosen by Trainer Stephanie Bingham. Stephanie will be working with Big Bertha for the next 120 days, turning Big Bertha into a dependable riding companion. Stephanie will be going against 13 Trainers in our Trainer's Challenge. Competition is set for May 4th, 2019, at the Heart of Oklahoma, Shawnee Expo Center, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Update May 5, 2019 Big Bertha has received 120 days of training and is seeking her forever, loving home. Big Bertha is a beautiful girl and looking for that family that she can continue to grow with. She loves having a job. She has been ridden and trained for pleasure, trails, and low-level jumps. Big Bertha will make someone an excellent horse whether for performance or pleasure. She would do great in Dressage or jumping with the continued training. Big Bertha is super smart and once she trusts you, she will do anything for you. She will require a relationship. Update August 15, 2021 Big Bertha has returned to our program and seeking a forever, loving home. Big Bertha is back in training for some refreshers. She spent 30 days with Aaron Dickinson. She can be easily intimating due to her size, but she is super smart and has a willing to please personality. She needs a strong leader that won't allow her to get away from them. Big Bertha is a sweet girl and loves attention but can sometimes be a bit on the aloof side. Big Bertha is super smart and once she trusts you, she will do anything for you. She will require a relationship. Big Bertha stands for the farrier and loads in a trailer.
